Ride Friday?

Screw it! I'm making it an extra long weekend and taking Friday off too! Going for a ride... south maybe... Highway D, the Cut and beyond? Weather looks like its going to be great. Anyone interested in going along?
Post up and we'll work out the details of when and where.

Re: Ride Friday?

I was thinking about the morning sometime, but I'm flexible. I can do the stuff I have to do around home pretty much anytime. Any suggestions?

Re: Ride Friday?

If it's a morning one I can probably go. Anytime works for me, even early morning would be a nice change.

Re: Ride Friday?

Aaron, lets see if anyone else has a preference about time. Otherwise it looks like it looks like morning is it.

I see we have a new catagory in the index for Ride Outs. Nice. Confused the hellout of me though. I couldn't  see my post until I hit refresh and the new heading showed up.

Re: Ride Friday?

Sorry, Paul, I left a "moved" version of your post in the General area so you could see where it went.

I'm good for anytime say, 8 AM or later.

Re: Ride Friday?

Sorry you can't make it Chris!

I'm thinking of meeting at the regular spot and hitting the road by 9:30 tomorrow morning. That way we should be back at a reasonable time so everyone can still have the evening for other stuff. Hope this works for the everyone.

Re: Ride Friday?

Works for me! I may have to cut early depending on the length of the ride. I need to be home by 2pm to run my son to band practice.

Band is an excellent extracurricular activity that molds young adults into responsible, disciplined human beings who are taught the the values of taking pride in themselves for their accomplishments, building trust with those around them and, at the same time, honing their fine arts skills.  For instance, one marching band alum is now the drummer for Wilco. Another is a professional musician with the Oklahoma Symphony. Yet another works in Chippewa Falls....  Okay, two out of three ain't bad.

Re: Ride Friday?

Thanks for the company today, guys. Good roads for the most part and the weather was just about perfect.

Hope the pace was o.k. Sorry about my screw-ups leading, but I'm still pretty much a rookie at this stuff.

I do have to admit, that after today, I've finally learned that passing the pickup truck/muscle car in the twisties is not such a great idea. I believe I will refrain from attempting this maneuver ever again. Anytime I'm stuck behind a slow moving vehicle in a blind corner, I will repeat my new mantra: patience. This is also known as not dying, which, like the guard rail and ditch, is something else I'd rather avoid at this point.

I have to go out and paint my garage now and won't make it to the "water show" at Sport Rider, but I'm sure someone will post pictures of the event. Have fun!

Re: Ride Friday?

Aaron, where were you? We missed you!

Not much of a story really. Just stupidity on my part. We came up on a pickup just as we were going up the hill on Highway C west of Arcadia. There was a small opening, so I pulled out to pass him just after a right hand corner, unfortunately I pulled too far to the left and ended up riding through the gravel between the road and the guard rail as I went past him. Bad decision, totally my fault. Did get my attention though!

It wasn't that big of a thing, but after being nearly run off the road earlier this year on Highway E in the Chippewa County Forest, and the impromtu "drag race" with the muscle car on Highway 88 near Gilmanton, I'm just going to count my blessings and back off in these situations in the future.

That's about all there is to it.

Now get out to Sport Rider and have the Carp Calendar Cuties give your dirty bike the attention it deserves.
