Happy New Year!!

The CVSC is looking forward to another great year in 2008!!

As the new year begins, I thought I'd send a reminder that club membership is based on the calendar year.  I have changed the club membership status of all members to help us keep track of who is a paid member.  Membership will be $25 again this year.

The sooner in the year you become a paid member, the sooner you can begin receiving the benefits of membership.  Payment can be made to Brad(Turd) or I at any time.

Stay tuned to this website for opportunities to enjoy the benefits of membership.

Can we use Paypal to get the money to you?

Re: Happy New Year!!

That's a pretty good idea Eric.  As of now, I don't think this is possible.  Perhaps the club's unofficial, unpaid, much appreciated IT advisor, Aaron, could chime in on the feasibility of this.

Re: Happy New Year!!

All someone would have to do is setup a Paypal account with the Club's bank account info and it should work great!  We would then need to know what email address to use for Paypal.

Re: Happy New Year!!

That does sound simple enough.  I've only ever used paypal for ebay transactions and it's been a while since I've done that.  Can anyone think of a reason NOT to do this?  Assuming no security or accountability concerns, I say let's do it.

Re: Happy New Year!!

The only bad thing is you'll have to pay paypal fees on the amount they send. My guess is out of the $25, you'll lose a buck or two on stupid paypal fees.

Re: Happy New Year!!

Just a little note on accepting payemnts via paypal. Making a payment is free, accepting payments will cost the payee 6%.

Roughly $1.50 per $25.00 dollar membership fee x 20 paid members = $30.00

It's a minor detail, but...thought I'd mention it.

Re: Happy New Year!!

O.K.  The paypal account is set up and am hoping Aaron can help me get a "buy now" button set up on the home page.  I followed the instructions like the champ that I am, but when I was done and clicked on the button all sorts of bad things happened.  Know your limitations folks, know your limitations.

Thanks again to Eric for the idea.  Paypal does indeed rock!!

I paid and all seems to be working well.  The email address for paypal is chippewavalleysportbike@yahoo.com.  Let me know if you have any problems with this and hopefully we'll have the button set up on the home page in the next few days.

Re: Happy New Year!!

FYI, the paypal fee is $1.03 on the $25 membership cost or just over 4%.  Smellycarp, could you redo the calculation and get back to me.  Thanks man.

Re: Happy New Year!!

The "Pay Now" button is now on the home page and is working, so pay away.  Guess I'll have to throw away my abacus now.

Re: Happy New Year!!

Payment sent.

I stand corrected, Champ. The fee is 4.2% meaning for every 23.8 members that join via PP, we lose a membership fee to Paypal. This means one person will have to be voted off to compensate. It'll be like reality T.V....but crappier.

Re: Happy New Year!!

PAID!  That makes it so much easier...hell I would have even paid the fee just to avoid having to mail a check!

Re: Happy New Year!!

I'm holding off on membership, I'm applying for some new jobs that require relocation so hopefully I won't live in Eau Claire for much longer.

In the event I don't get any of them though, I'll be riding!

MG , according to the Turd, it sounds as though you'll be drinking $40, to celebrate not having to drink $40, to pay your dues.

CVSBC logic at it's finest!

Re: Happy New Year!!

Arron are you sure you want to move? I mean, think about it, what if you move some place where giant  wieners are totally acceptable search criteria at 4 am? What then, heh?

I kid...I hope you find the job you're looking for, man!
