Self-propelled ride

Anyone at all interested in hopping our fatasses on mountain bikes and head to Lowes Creek Park for some fun off roading this weekend?

I might want to, what day?  do you have an extra sped helmet for me?

Clearly, my version of off-roading is riding the Witch-mobile around our yard...sounds fun though. Should I hide in trees and play a banjo....er...take pictures?

Re: Self-propelled ride

Tommy and I went.  I think I've found a sport/hobby which is more dangerous than motorcycling.  Trees everywhere.....and close.  Will post pics of the new ride and the damage in a few.

Re: Self-propelled ride

First of all, Tommy, you can suck it.....more.

Here's the new-to-me weapon!!

It's waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more bike than I need, but hopefully one day I'll be able to use more than 1% of its potential.  Adjustable front and rear suspension was a big selling point.  Another nice feature is the front forks have a switch changing the travel from 80-100mm.  I guess you switch it to 80 for the street so it doesn't bounce as much?  Some of the brand new bikes I looked at had a feature that locked out the front shock so it was rigid for the street.

It came with a helmet, clip-style pedals and regular pedals, a sweet computer that tells you everything you'd want to know and much more, an extra set of aggressive off-road tires, front and rear disc brakes, original and comfy seat, renthal carbon-fiber bars, upright handle-bar mount for a more relaxed riding position and the stock mount, and an air pump for the rear shock with a built-in gauge.  I don't know a thing about bikes and realized I haven't owned a bike as an adult.  My ex had a nice men's trek mountain bike that I'd ride from time to time, but it's been around 20 years since I've owned one.  Think I'll keep this one around for a bit.

Minor bruises and scrapes on all four limbs and my back.  Hit a few trees and had one interesting tumble down a hillside after stalling on a hill-climb, tipping to the right only to realize there was no ground immediately on the right.  Roughly 30 feet later I came to a stop with a sharp stick poking me in the back.  I didn't injure my spleen this time.  In fact it was my pancreas. /Mort Goldman

The minor carnage.

Why didn't anybody tell me about the amount of back-fat I'm sporting these days.  Jesus.  BTW, that's a natural tan.  No beds, booths or lotions for me.

What a workout and what a fooking blast.  Target fixation was an issue as I bounced off trees and went off the trail watching the deer run away.  No sehksi goats that I saw, but those two fawns were certainly giving me the doe eyes.

If my legs aren't completely worn out tomorrow after the club ride, I'm totally gonna go put some more miles on.

Re: Self-propelled ride

That ain't nothing. Post up when you get some real scars dude tongue
Anyone is welcome to come over to Winona and ride Holzinger, one of the better trails around the area. I'll show you how to roll down the side of a hill with grace and ease, how to deflect trees with your shins and save your shoulders, and how to save your helmet by breaking your fall with your butt instead. Fun times!
