Bravo Madman.  Regardless of any benefit the club may realize, this would be a very good thing to do.  The application is very simple and the rules are minimal.  As for the exact section of road we would be responsible for, the application asks for three alternatives.  I'm not sure if they'd allow us somewhere in the "twisties", but God knows there are plenty of straightaways bracketing said "twisties".  Check out the website, if you wish, at http://www.dot.wisconsin.gov/localgov/a … ighway.htm.

I think we should do this.  Gauging interest or participation may be difficult, but I can think of a number of us good folks who would do this.  Rather than a poll, why don't you just respond to this post if you'd be interested or if you can think of any good reason the club should NOT be involved in this.

If at all available im in... lets do it on a rainy shitty day so i wont want to be out riding.

If we do it now, it'll be easy.  Unless there's shoveling involved....then maybe we could get Aaron to help smile

Hey Paul,

I think I found a great picture for the club poster.  Dec 13th edition of Volume One...I think it's on page 29.  smile

Re: Ideas??

Was thinking about getting the Adopt-A-Highway application filled out and turned in.

I think the two schools of thought are:  1)  Pick a stretch close to E.C. 2)  Pick a straight stretch near some twisties.

Suggestions of specific stretches of road would be appreciated.  For example, Hwy 88 from the intersection of NN to Rose Rd.

Pretty much the response I was expecting.  That, or maybe from Turd's house to Dooley's.  Something along those lines.  Seriously though folks, any ideas would be appreciated.

Re: Ideas??

The stretch up to the hill on 88? It's far but traveled well by "enthusiasts".

Re: Ideas??

In mine opinion, the only road close to EC worth "adopting " would seem to be Hwy. B.

Or how about the top twisty section of Hwy. Y over by Downsville?

Or (getting kinda far away now) the hill section of Hwy. 95 west of Arcadia?

But really, Hwy. 88 would be great too! Just one question, where is Rose Rd.? Top of the hill?

Mx: I'll check out the latest Volume One to see what you have in mind.

hehe....this was brought up when the braintrust was discussing the idea.

As for the 95 hill or the 88 hill, I don't think we'd be able to do the hill itself for safety reasons, but we could pick a stretch leading up to a cool stretch.  Capiche?

Wood had an idea about a fundraiser of sorts with the beneficiary being the air-fence fund.  http://actionfund.roadracingworld.com/

Re: Ideas??

Ah, I guess I'm a little confused on the logic here.  Are we planning to travel to the future adopted stretch of road on our motorcycles to pick up trash?  Or is the idea behind the twisty adoption that our name would be on the sign by it?

It's all about the sign.

If at all possible, I agree with the turd...  or leading up to it like the champ said... or the entire freggin thing... ok... a good stretch of it ...somewhere well traveled by people on 2 wheels.

Thus: "the stretch up to" cuz the curvey part doesn't need any more signs on it I think.

Re: Ideas??

NN to Rose Rd. on 88 would be great.

Or, since we can't do the hill on 95, how about the top part by Hanson's Holdup. From Pansy Pass to Alligator Slide Rd.

I'm not making these road names up folks, they're right there on the map. Check them out if you don't believe!

Re: Ideas??

I agree with Turd.  Side question:  Would us on a sign be an invitation for the fuzzies to wait nearby for us?
