650 Ninja Issues

Symptom: I have recently had some issues with my bike at the first 5 or 6 stop signs during takeoff after it's warmed up. It stutters, gets quiet, then takes off while giving it typical throttle.

Background: I had a stealership install a PCIII a while back and they didn't install the map that I gave them, so it probably has been running rich for a year. I installed the correct map a couple of weeks, along with an oil change and ran some seafoam, took it out and gunned it a bit to try to get stuff loose. I was having issues idling low and killing even though the clutch was in when coming to a stop. Bikes been dropped once on loose gravel on the clutch/shift side.

I'm hoping that its just the spark plugs gone bad and will change it this weekend to some iridiums that I have. I'm afraid by the way that it cuts out that it's some kind of a sensor gone bad as if it were mechanical I'd think it had some clinking. The only other thing that seems odd is it goes away and seems to stay away if you leave it out in the sun during the day, but if I pull it into the garage it kicks back up.

Just recently I took it today and it kept stuttering and jerking hard after a stop sign. It seems to be getting worse.

I don't know shit, but one of my first cars used to jerk and stutter when it got hot...turned out the air filter was saturated with oil. Again, I know nothing.

Your air filter is clearly saturated with oil.

Re: 650 Ninja Issues

Anything else you have done to the bike (ANY new parts) just before it started acting this way?  I put an aftermarket gas cap on a bike and it started doing some of the same symptoms cuz it wasn't allowing the tank to breath properly.

Re: 650 Ninja Issues

I doubt that your plugs are bad.  I checked mine after two years, and could have kept on running them.  As far as your pcII goes, was it installed before or after you crashed?  If it was after, I would dig through all the connections(both injectors and tps.)  also, has the pc gotten wet.  sometimes that can have an effect on it's performance.

What kind of map were you running and what kind of map are you running?  try running a zero map.

Check your air filter.

just some suggestions....

Re: 650 Ninja Issues

Replaced plugs, used some electrical contact cleaner and took the PCIII out completely, runs fine now, but definite loss in power. Air filter was clean. I'll wait til I actually get a pipe and filter for it, then put it back in, noticable power loss thought without. Nobody has a dyno locally? :-(

I had the old stealership that used to be in Hudson install it and they went out of business...surprise surprise. Didn't put in the map that I gave them on a disc. Should have done it myself, but was a little less confident at the time.

I hooked up my computer and found I was running a map for a two bros exhaust with aftermarket filter map, when I was running stock.

Thanks for the help.
